WATCH: Jeff Stelling Receives Personal Call on Soccer Saturday

It’s the start of a brand New Year, and already Jeff Sterling from Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday has come up trumps with what is undoubtably the best bit of television I’ve seen so far this year.

But given the fact that Jeff was on live television, in a show he hosts regularly almost every weekend, who would give him a call live on air? His wife? A friend? The Boss?

While previewing the games ahead on the day, the panel were interrupted as Stelling reached for his bag from the studio floor and dug out his phone. Staring down the lens of the camera, he answered the phone saying ‘Hi darling, yea, I’m at work’.

Laughter erupted in the studio from his Sky colleagues, whilst Stelling revealed it wasn’t a close family member of friend, but supposedly a member from Sky’s Broadband Department.

‘You know who it is, who’s calling, it’s Sky Sports, it’s their broadband section’ he exclaimed.

‘You need to be more professional’ he said as his colleagues continued to laugh.

Perhaps there’s a rule in this, always put your phone on silent. I wonder what they wanted him for…
