EPSN.com have announced that Scott Lauber has joined the company as a new Boston Red Sox reporter, and have announced new reporters for the Cardinals and Dodgers.
He will be on-site at Red Sox Spring Training in Forty Myers, FLA, and has already begun his duties.
Since 2010, Lauber has covered the Red Sox for the Boston Herald, and prior to that, covered the Philadelphia Phillies for the News-Journal in Wilmington, Del.
Speaking of his new role, Lauber said: “ESPN has a long tradition of excellence in covering sports, and I could not be more thrilled to join this all-star team. Whether the Red Sox are up or down, they always provide a compelling story. I am eager to share it with ESPN’s readers and viewers.”
Mark Saxon has also been named the new St Louis Cardinals beat writer, having most recently worked for ESPNLosAngeles.com covering the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has previously worked for the Oakland Tribune and the Orange County Register.
Saxon said: “So it’s time to launch this blog and start providing daily, multi-platform coverage of the Cardinals, from the first day of spring training until their final out, whenever and wherever that may be, We’ll be there through the ups and downs of a season, every day.”
Whilst Doug Padilla returns to California to cover the Los Angeles Dodgers for ESPN.com. He has previously covered the Chicago White Sox for ESPN Radio 1000, ESPNChicago.com and ESPN.com.
“I covered my first major league game at Dodger Stadium in June of 1993 for the Orange County Register when the Dodgers played host to the Florida Marlins, then countless games there as a backup writer for the San Bernardino Sun,” said Padilla. “After a four-year stint at the Chicago Sun-Times from 2002 to ’05, covering the Chicago White Sox, I returned with the Los Angeles Newspaper Group to cover both the Los Angeles Angels and the Dodgers.”
